756 ESB Lab

Located in the Engineering Sciences building on the Evansdale campus, 756 is a computer lab for students taking LCSEE courses. The lab is equipped with 21 model CSEEWKS0007 PC's, which consist of AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processors, 2048 MB of RAM, and a 160 GB HDD running Ubuntu Linux version 8.04 (Hardy Heron) with the GNOME graphical interface.

The machines are now also capable of running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition in a virtual environment using Innotek VirtualBox on the Ubuntu desktop.

  • To use Microsoft Windows XP in 756 ESB, click on Applications, Accessories, Windows. Login with your LCSEE Computing Account
  • When logging off of a machine, do not forget to also log off the virtual Windows AND Ubuntnu. Failure to do so risks compromising your LCSEE account. This is especially important to remember if you are running Windows in full screen mode.
  • To enter and exit Full Screen mode, hold the right side control key and press 'f'.
