LCSEE Account Policy

Effective 09/01/2003, Revised 05/31/06: This policy specifically outlines the criteria for having a LCSEE account.

  • All faculty and staff of the LCSEE Department are eligible to have a LCSEE Account.
  • All active students Majoring in a Degree offered by the LCSEE Department are eligible to have a LCSEE account. The account will be active so long as the student is an active student in the LCSEE Department.
  • A person attaining a degree from the LCSEE Department shall generally be eligible for a lifetime email alias with a vanity email address of the form Firstname.Lastname@csee.wvu.edu. The alumni will automatically be subscribed to an alumni@csee.wvu.edu email mailing list. Additionally, a degree earning alumni may petition the LCSEE Systems Committee to enable additional functionality such as shell access or to host a web site.
  • Any student taking an LCSEE or LCSEE affiliated class which requires the use of the LCSEE Systems for their coursework is eligible to an account. The account will be issued shortly after the start of the class, and it will be active from the start of the semester up until one month after the last day of class for that semester.
  • In order to elminate stale and stagnant accounts, email will be sent out on a periodic basis requesting the account holder to take some action to keep their account active. Failure to follow the directions contained in the email within a time period of one month will result in a second notice being sent to the account holder. If the account holder fails to answer the second notice within one month of the second notice then the account will be disabled.
  • An account that is disabled for a period of over 1 year will be permanently deleted from the LCSEE systems.
  • LCSEE accounts are to be used only for LCSEE Departmental purposes. Accounts can be disabled at any time without warning at the discretion of the LCSEE systems staff if the LCSEE Systems Staff feels the account is being misused. If an account holder feels his or her account has been wrongly disabled, they can appeal to the LCSEE Systems Committee.
  • A LCSEE faculty member's computing account will expire 1 year after their employment with the department has been terminated.
  • A LCSEE Emeritus faculty member's computing account expires yearly. These accounts may be extended on a yearly basis by sending a request to helpdesk@csee.wvu.edu
  • A LCSEE staff member's computing account expires upon termination of employment and cannot be extended.
